Gryphon Scanners
The Gryphon is a good looking stylish scanner equally at home in a
retail store, office, library or similar hard working environments.
The original Corded and Cordless designs have been so successful that Datalogic
now produce a family of Gryphons with differing features suitable
for a range of specialist uses including USB, RS232, Bluetooth and ESD versions.

Gryphon scanners read all the modern linear barcodes like Code 39,
Code 128, EAN/UPC, 2 from 5, Codabar etc. Special upgrade versions with
the additional ability to read 2D barcodes
like PDF417 are available.
Libraries, Archives and Low Noise environments
Datalogic’s support of some of the older and lesser used barcode
types makes this a good choice for libraries and archival uses where
barcoded stock can be years old.
Gryphon scanners have a novel feature of particular interest where scanners
are operated in areas where quiet operation is important. After the barcode
is scanned successfully a green spotlight is projected onto the barcode.
This gives a clear visual indication of a ‘good read’ and allows the scanner
to be used effectively if the beep is switched off or muted.
Cordless Gryphon
Cordless scanners are useful where the barcode needs to be scanned
several metres from the computer. (The mode of operation is identical to
the standard corded Gryphon—just think of the radio link as an invisible
long cable). The radio link is bidirectional and the scanner indicates a ‘good read’
(beep and Green Spotlight) only after the computer signals back that it has
received the data. In this way data need not be lost if you walk out of radio range.
Datalogic quote a range of about 30 metres in an open area. I have
found this to be a realistic figure and at least as good
(if not better) than some competitor scanners.
Normally one scanner will interact with one base station connected to
a single computer but other configurations are possible. For example
you could have two or more scanners sending to a single computer. Multiple
independent systems can coexist within radio range of each other—they are
simply programmed to operate on different channels.
Before despatch we will take care of all the programming of the scanners
at no additional cost to you. However simple or complex your configuration
we will handle it so all you need do is connect up and
start scanning. If you have a special need or other Cordless Gryphons
already on site please let us know.
Remember that the radio base station doubles as a charger for the scanner
so you always need one base station per scanner even if programmed
as a non active radio node.

Libraries. The Gryphon will equally be at
home in any commercial or office environment.
Choose corded models for lowest cost. The best interface to choose for PCs
is USB or keyboard wedge but contact me if you are unsure which is best for you.
Cordless versions provide the freedom to scan
away from the immediate area of the Computer. The maximum range will be
influenced to some extent by the nature of the building structure.

Gryphon Scanners with RS232 interface
Corded Gyphon Barcode Scanner with RS232 interface and mains power supply.
RS232 connector is 9 pin female Dee. The Pinout is suitable for direct connection to COM port on a PC.
The RS232 connector has a connection point on the rear for the power supply.
Supplied Programmed for RS232 operation at 9600 baud, 8 data bits, no parity.

Gryphon Scanners and Wyse General Purpose Terminals
